CBS Sports Agrees To A Multi-Year Boxing Revenue

Press release by CBS sports indicate that SHOWTIME sports which is their sister network will air up-to eight live boxing events as a result of an agreement on a multi-year joint venture that was reached upon between the sister network and Premier Boxing Champions.

In the release that was offered to the media, Stephen Espinoza who is the Vice President and General Manager of SHOWTIME discussed the relevance and importance of the deal, saying, “The Premier Boxing Champions series on CBS will help usher in a new era in the storied history of boxing. With the support of our parent company, we are uniquely positioned for a three-tiered approach that includes live boxing broadcasts on America’s No. 1 network, the cable reach of CBS Sports Network and, of course, the premium television leader in boxing, SHOWTIME.”

In the release a clear path on how the network tend to market the events were made clear as both networks will be complemented by a “significant marketing budget (,,,) dedicated to promoting each of the live CBS broadcasts and each major SHOWTIME telecast,” in addition to “short- and long-form shoulder programming that will air across multiple platforms.”

Rumors on whether or not Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather seemed to be addressed by the press release as Mayweather is scheduled to have a fight on May 2nd on Showtime and the only thing missing is an opponent for him.

The events will kick off on CBS sports on 4th April.
